BREAKING: NECO Releases Results For 2024 Unity Schools Examination

The National Examination Council (NECO) has announced the results of the 2024 common entrance examination for Unity schools, revealing that 13 candidates received a score of 01.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Sununu, shared insights about the examination outcomes.

This year, a total of 71,291 candidates participated in the National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE), which was held across 599 centers on June 1, 2024.

Lagos State led with the highest candidate enrollment, totaling 17,751, followed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with 10,209 candidates, and Anambra State in third place with 4,972 participants.

Minister Sununu reported that out of the total candidates, 4,360 were absent, while 66,931 were present for the examination. Notably, one candidate achieved the highest score of 203 out of a possible 210.

The admission process for Unity schools will prioritize merit, with 60% of placements based on performance.

Meanwhile, the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) has barred all higher institutions from commencing the 2024 admission processes before its policy meeting scheduled to be held this week.

Naija News reports that this announcement was made in the board’s weekly bulletin, which was released on Monday, July 15.

The update states that the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, will lead the 2024 policy gathering, which is scheduled for Thursday, July 18, in Abuja.

The purpose of this policy meeting is to approve the start of admissions for this academic year.

According to JAMB, all necessary procedures are in place for the start of admissions into the country’s higher education institutions.
