BREAKING: Nigeria gets second female CJN in history

Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun has been sworn in as the 23rd Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the State House in Abuja, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu presiding.

Kekere-Ekun will serve as acting CJN until her confirmation by the Senate. She took her oaths of office at 11:38 am, marking the beginning of her tenure.

Kekere-Ekun is a seasoned jurist who has served as a Supreme Court justice since 2013. Her appointment follows the retirement of former Chief Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, and she is expected to bring her expertise and experience to the role.
