BREAKING: Nigerian lawmakers reject bill proposing six-year single term for president

The House of Representatives has rejected a bill seeking a six-year single term for Nigeria’s presidency.

The constitution alteration bill, sponsored by Ikenga Ugochinyere (PDP, Imo) was rejected on Thursday during a debate on its general principles.

Some lawmakers in the House, who introduced the bill in June, also proposed the rotation of the presidency between the North and the South as well as the creation of a second vice president.
