3 weeks ago 3

Queen Camilla, wife of King Charles III, has stepped back from her official duties this week due to a chest infection, Buckingham Palace announced on Tuesday.

The 77-year-old Queen is currently recuperating at home, with medical guidance advising her to rest, according to a statement released by the Palace.

Her Majesty The Queen is currently unwell with a chest infection, for which her doctors have advised a short period of rest.

“With great regret, Her Majesty has therefore had to withdraw from her engagements for this week, but she very much hopes to recover in time to attend this weekend’s Remembrance events as normal,” said a Palace spokesperson.

Meanwhile, the Palace has withheld further details regarding her treatment.

Sky News confirmed the news, noting the Queen’s regret for any inconvenience or disappointment caused by her absence.

Her engagements for this week included the annual opening of the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey, where the Duchess of Gloucester, Birgitte, will represent her.

Additionally, Queen Camilla will not attend a Buckingham Palace reception for Olympic and Paralympic athletes, which King Charles III will host in her absence.

Queen Camilla and King Charles recently returned from a royal tour of Australia and Samoa. Earlier this year, King Charles also paused public duties temporarily due to a health matter, later resuming in April.

The Palace remains hopeful that Queen Camilla will be well enough to participate in the upcoming Remembrance events, a significant occasion typically attended by senior members of the royal family.

Camilla became Queen Consort following King Charles’ ascension after the passing of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022. She was formerly known as the Duchess of Cornwall after her marriage to Charles in 2005.
