Brentford have agreed to a bid in the region of £40 million for the transfer of Ivan Toney to the Saudi Pro League club, Al-Ahli.

Sources close to the England forward, according to the BBC, have indicated that they expect the deal to go through successfully, and Ivan Toney will soon be completing the transfer.

Toney, 28, has not featured for Brentford in the current season, and the team’s manager, Thomas Frank, has already confirmed that Toney will not be available for the upcoming game against Southampton.

In addition to Toney, there have been reports claiming that Napoli and Super Eagles of Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen, 25, is on the verge of completing his move to Al-Ahli.

The Saudi transfer window remains open until 2nd September, which means Toney’s transfer does not necessarily have to be finalized before the Premier League deadline of 11 p.m. (Nigeria time) on Friday, August 30.

Note that Ivan Toney was part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad at Euro 2024.

He made three appearances, including as a late substitute in the final against Spain. He scored a crucial penalty in the shoot-out victory over Switzerland.

However, Toney was left out of interim England manager Lee Carsley’s squad for the September Nations League games.

Toney’s impressive goal-scoring record includes bagging 20 goals in the 2022-23 Premier League season and finding the net four times in the first five matches of the previous season following his return from an eight-month suspension due to breaching FA betting rules.
