Bukayo Saka To Compete With Cole Palmer For PFA Young Player Of The Year

Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and Chelsea’s Cole Palmer have been nominated for the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Men’s Young Player of the Year award.

Saka and Palmer are among the six shortlisted candidates, alongside Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, Michael Olise, and Brighton and Hove Albion’s Joao Pedro.

Saka, the 22-year-old England international, had a remarkable season, scoring 16 Premier League goals and providing nine assists for Arsenal from the wing.

On the other hand, 22-year-old Cole Palmer impressed by contributing to 33 goals, scoring 22 times for Chelsea in the Premier League.

While Bukayo Saka’s performance helped Arsenal to finish second in the 2023-2024 Premier League campaign, Cole Palmer’s performance only helped struggling Chelsea to finish seventh in the league.

Notwithstanding, the Nigerian-born England international and the former Manchester City star are expected to be the main contenders for the award based on their individual brilliance in the season under review.

In the women’s category, Chelsea’s playmaker Lauren James and Manchester City’s Khiara Keating are contenders for the PFA Young Player of the Year award.

They are joined by Chelsea’s Aggie Beever-Jones, Manchester United’s Maya Le Tissier, Manchester City’s Jess Park, and Tottenham’s Grace Clinton.

The winner will be announced at the PFA Awards ceremony in Manchester on August 20, 2024.
