C’River LG boss unveils development blueprint as new councillors assume office

The Executive Chairman of Biase Local Government Area of Cross River State, Edodi Eyong, has outlined his administration’s blueprints to tackle critical areas such as education, health and social services, agriculture, environment, welfare and social development, infrastructure, youths, women and children development, gender-based issues, and security in the local council.

He disclosed this on Tuesday at the council’s secretariat in Ebongo, during the official handing over and inauguration of the newly-elected councillors, who emerged victorious at the November 2 local government elections in the state under the flagship of the ruling All Progressives Congress.

I’m his address, Hon Edodi expressed unwavering readiness to collaborate with his people with purpose and determination to bring about positive change and transform Biase Local Government Area into a peaceful, developed, and unified entity.

He said, “I, therefore, urge all of you, the councillors, to embrace the core mandate of your role, which is to enact bylaws that will positively transform the lives of our people. In performing your duties, please remain mindful of the interests of those who placed their faith in you, striving always to serve with integrity and humility. “Remember, governance is a sacred responsibility that demands our best efforts and sacrifices. We commit ourselves to working harmoniously with you to foster a productive, mutually rewarding relationship that serves the best interests of Biase.

“Today marks a new chapter for Biase, a chapter written by our collective vision and the democratic will of our people, as provided under the Cross River State Local Government Law No. 22 of 2007, as amended. I sincerely extend my unreserved congratulations to you our elected councillors here for the well-deserved victory at the polls. Your victory is not just your own; it is a victory for every son and daughter of Biase who dreams and hopes for a better, more prosperous homeland.”

In his acceptance speech; the newly-elected leader of the 8th Legislative Assembly, Hon. Egete Umet, said that they are poised to create policies that would address the real challenges facing the people, ranging from infrastructure and education to economic empowerment and social welfare in line with the People’s First Agenda of Governor Bassey Otu.

Umet said, “As I accept this responsibility, I am fully aware of the expectations, challenges, and sacrifices required to serve the people of Biase effectively. I believe God that we shall succeed by His grace, the support of our loving chairman, the unwavering dedication of you my colleagues, and the strength of our people, I am confident that we will succeed in building a prosperous, united, and thriving Biase Local Government Area.”
