The Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, has congratulated Ademola Lookman, Chiamaka Nnadozie, and the Super Falcons for their impressive achievements at the 2024 CAF Awards.

The governor described the outcome of the 2024 CAF Awards as a celebrated moment for both Nigerian football and the nation at large.

Ademola Lookman was honored as the CAF Player of the Year, while Chiamaka Nnadozie received the award for Goalkeeper of the Year.

In a statement released on Monday, Mbah remarked, “I extend my warm congratulations to Ademola Lookman, Chiamaka Nnadozie, and the Super Falcons for their well-deserved recognition as Africa’s Male Footballer of the Year, Female Goalkeeper of the Year, and Female National Team of the Year, respectively, at the esteemed CAF Awards 2024.”

He continued, “This was truly a night of pride for Nigeria. Your hard work and patriotic spirit shone brightly, and we take immense pride in your accomplishments.”

Mbah also encouraged Lookman and Nnadozie, stating, “May these awards serve as stepping stones to even greater achievements in your football careers and for the advancement of Nigerian football as a whole. Once again, congratulations to all of you.”

Former Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, similarly praised Ademola Lookman for earning the prestigious 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award. He asserted that Lookman’s recognition was well-deserved, emphasizing the importance of teamwork.

Peseiro shared on X, “Congratulations, @molalookman, on winning the CAF Player of the Year 2024 award! This recognition reflects your extraordinary talent and value to both Nigeria and African football.”

He added, “It is crucial to acknowledge the contributions of the entire Nigerian national team, whose collective efforts played an essential role in this individual accolade. This achievement marks the second consecutive year a Super Eagle has won this award, following @victorosimhen9’s victory last year. Many congratulations!”

With this win, Lookman joins the ranks of six distinguished Nigerian players to have received the award, including legends like Rashidi Yekini, Emmanuel Amuneke, Victor Ikpeba, Kanu Nwankwo, and Victor Osimhen.
