CAF Confirms Officials For Nigeria Vs Ghana African Nations Championship Qualifiers

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially named match officials from Togo for the upcoming 8th African Nations Championship qualifying match between Ghana and Nigeria’s senior B teams.

The first leg of the clash between Nigeria and Ghana will take place on Sunday, 22nd December 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium, while the second leg is scheduled for Saturday, 28th December, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

Referee Aklesso Gnama will lead the officiating team, accompanied by his Togo compatriots Jonathan Ahonto Koffi and Wassiou Tchamolla Ourotou as assistant referees, and Kossi Fabrice Senyo will serve as the fourth official.

In addition, Ivan Gator Brown from Liberia will act as the match commissioner, while Hugues Alain Adjovi from Benin will serve as the referee assessor.

For the return leg in Uyo, the Moroccan officials Hamza El Fariq, Abdessamad Abertoune, Zakaria Bouchtaoui, and Hicham Temsamani will fulfil the roles of referee, assistant 1, assistant 2, and fourth official respectively.

Prince Kai Saquee from Sierra Leone will be the commissioner, and Miboti Moise from the Democratic Republic of Congo will act as the referee assessor.

Kick-off for the game in Accra is set for 4 PM Ghana time (5 PM in Nigeria), while the return leg in Uyo will start at 5 PM.

The aggregate winner of this two-legged tie will secure a place in the 8th African Nations Championship finals, which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

This tournament will serve as an important dress rehearsal, allowing the host nations to test facilities and equipment ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations finals. The championship is scheduled to take place from 1st to 28th February 2025.
