Campus France Nigeria, in collaboration with the French Embassy, yesterday hosted a study on France Fair in Abuja, providing Nigerian students with opportunities to pursue higher education in France.

The fair aimed to promote French higher education institutions in Nigeria, inform students about scholarship opportunities, and guide applicants through the admission process.

At the event the deputy head of cooperation and cultural affairs, Sebastien Dede, said “Nigeria is a strategic partner for France in West Africa, we’re committed to strengthening educational ties between our countries.

“When I see what’s going on between UK and Nigeria, I think we can do a lot better between Nigeria and France.”

Dede added that language will not be a barrier for Nigerian students, as over 1,700 courses are taught in English, but also emphasised that it is important for Nigerian students to learn French while studying in France in order to properly integrate with the society, and have better employment opportunities if they choose to work in France after their studies.

Highlights of the event included exhibitions by French universities and business schools, scholarships, and visa procedures, one-on-one consultations with French university representatives and information sessions on French language and culture.

Hundreds of students, academics, and professionals attended the fair, demonstrating a strong interest in French education.

The Study in France Fair reinforces the bilateral cooperation between Nigeria and France in education.
