Days after the Ojude Oba Day celebration rocked the Nigerian social media space, another highly regarded festival from the Emirate state, Ilorin, has stepped up its awareness online.

The Durbar festival is an annual festival held two days after the Muslim "Ileya" festivities. Like the Ojude Oba Day celebration, it entails scenes of different families riding on horses and visiting the Oba of Ilorin at his forecourt to pay homage.

How Durbar Festival is celebrated

The Durbar festival is a 7 days procession which starts on the last Friday before the "Ileya" day and it culminates on the second day after Eid El-Adha.

On the seventh which is usually the Grand day for the Durbar festival. A horse procession, which would consists of over 500 horsemen, shall be led by the Emir himself.

He would be accompanied by the Executive Governor of Kwara State, the High Chiefs of the Emirate and members of the royal family as well as honourary title holders.

After which the Emir would return to his palace and festivities would kill off fully as he would start recieving guests at his palace with different coming to pay tributes and homage.

Expensive sunshades at Ojude Oba festival trends

Legit.ng recalls reporting earlier that pictures from the Ojude Oba event that circulated the internet showed an array of colourful Aso-Oke's and headgear worn by both men and women, young and old.

However, some of the expensive sunglasses worn by attendees have stirred the attention of many Nigerians on social media.

Some designers on display included Dolce & Gabbana, Cartier, Louis Vuitton, Tom Ford, Ray-ban and many more, with prices ranging from as low as $350 to as high as $2,300.
