- Jadon Sancho was exiled by dismissed Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, which saw him join Chelsea on loan
- After a sensational start at Stamford Bridge, the England star has not played a single minute in the last two matches
- Blues coach Enzo Maresca has appeared to send a warning to the 24-year-old, challenging him to fight for his spot
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca appeared to warn Jadon Sancho a day after Manchester United fired his former coach Erik ten Hag.
The England winger has not played in Chelsea's last two matches, raising questions about his role in the team.
Sancho fell out with Erik ten Hag last year, which resulted in the club sending him on loan to Borussia Dortmund and now Chelsea.
Sancho has made a phenomenal start to the season with Chelsea, but his underwhelming performance at Liverpool saw him get benched.
Enzo Maresca warning to Sancho?
Ahead of Chelsea's League Cup clash against Newcastle United, Maresca was asked about Sancho's role in his team.
Against Liverpool on October 20, Sancho was substituted at halftime and has not played a single minute since.
He sat on the bench against Panathinaikos in the UEFA Conference League and Newcastle in the league last weekend.
Pedro Neto and Christopher Nkunku were the preferred options. Maresca said Sancho is out because of tactical reasons.
"Jadon is doing well since he arrived with us. For sure, he cannot maintain the same level all season because the amount of games is huge. So the last two games he didn't play, not for any different reason, but just for a tactical and technical decision - no more than that,"He later appeared to send a message to the winger.
"For sure, because of the amount of games, he is going to play many games and the only thing he has to do is to continue to work hard. When we give him the chance, take it."With Chelsea's squad depth, Sancho will be under pressure to perform when given the chance.
What happened between Erik ten Hag and Sancho?
In September 2023, Ten Hag publically called out Sancho after Man United's defeat to Arsenal.
"Because of his performance in training, we didn't select him. You have to reach a level every day at Manchester United," Ten Hag said via BBC.The winger fired back through his social media but later deleted the post. The decision saw the Dutchman exile him from the squad.
"I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue," Sancho posted. "I've been a scapegoat for a long time, which isn't fair."He spent the second half of the 2023/24 season at Borussia Dortmund and then joined Chelsea on loan for the 2024/25 season. It remains to be seen if he will return to the club now that Erik ten Hag is gone.
Sancho appears to troll Man United
A few weeks ago, Sancho appeared to take a swipe at Manchester United following their heavy defeat at home to Tottenham Hotspur, as Legit.ng earlier reported.
The Chelsea admin shared a picture of Cole Palmer and Sancho smiling. Enzo Maresca's side beat Brighton, with Palmer scoring four goals.
