Chelsea Coach Enzo Maresca Responds To Ancelotti’s Glowing Comments

1 month ago 3

The manager of Chelsea, Enzo Maresca, is not excited over the praises he got from veteran Italian football manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Carlo Ancelotti, who previously coached Enzo Maresca at Juventus, praised the Chelsea boss’s managerial style ahead of Real Madrid’s final preseason match against the Premier League club in the United States.

Ancelotti emphasized that Maresca has the knowledge and potential to succeed at Stamford Bridge but also stressed the importance of patience from Chelsea’s management and fans.

In response, Maresca highlighted the need for time to fully implement his approach and cautioned against premature judgment of his performance as a manager.

He appreciated Ancelotti’s words and emphasized that building a successful team is not something that can be achieved in a short period.

“No, you cannot think after two weeks, three weeks that it will all work,” Enzo Maresca said.

“I appreciate Carlo’s words; I worked under him, and his career is something unbelievable. It’s not something you make in two days; this is not PlayStation.”

Coach Enzo Maresca also addressed the issue of guaranteed starters in the team, particularly in light of Conor Gallagher’s potential exit from the club.

He emphasized that every squad member must compete for their place and rejected the idea of labelling any player as a guaranteed starter, deeming it disrespectful to the rest of the squad.

“No one is a starter. They have to work day by day and convince me they have to play,” Maresca told reporters in the United States.

“I am convinced everyone is a squad player.

“I think it’s wrong to say Conor, or Enzo [Fernandez], or Moi [Caicedo], is a starter. It’s disrespectful to the other players. They are all squad”

Note that at 00:00 BST tonight, Chelsea will take on Real Madrid in a pre-season friendly in Charlotte, United States. On Sunday, they will take on Inter Milan at Stamford Bridge in their last friendly game ahead of the 2024-2025 season.
