However, as the team prepares for its pre-season tour, forward, Christopher Nkunku has shared his thoughts on the new manager and the upcoming season.

Nkunku speaks on Maresca

In an interview with the official Chelsea website, the former RB Leipzig forward shared his thoughts on the new manager.

“The new head coach brings a lot of good ideas to our play,” Nkunku said. “We’re all excited to train under him. It’s just the beginning, and we need to learn and adapt our play according to his methods.”

Offering a glimpse into the team’s mindset for the upcoming season, Nkunku continued:

“We’re on a way to learn and if we all embrace the coach’s vision, we’ll play some good football this year. We’re already working a lot with the ball. As he mentioned from day one, he wants us to focus on practising football directly. His philosophy is to keep the ball, and that’s what we’re focusing on now.”

Maresca is known for his commitment to possession-based football, a philosophy he has been instilling at Chelsea since the start of pre-season.

Meanwhile, Nkunku is eager to secure a starting spot under the Italian manager. According to Fotmob data, his first season saw him limited to just 439 Premier League minutes, largely due to injuries.
