Claudio Ranieri Returns To Roma As Coach

AS Roma have appointed Claudio Ranieri as the new Head Coach of the First Team, signalling the return of a respected figure in the club’s history.

In a statement released on Thursday, AS Roma announced that Ranieri, a lifelong fan and former player of the club, will guide the team for the remainder of the season.

After this period, he will transition into a senior executive role, providing valuable advice to the ownership on sporting matters.

Ranieri previously served as head coach of Roma from 2009 to 2011 and again in 2019. His extensive experience in football management, covering Serie A, the Premier League, La Liga, and Ligue 1, has earned him respect across the sport. Note that he led Leicester City to a historic league title in 2016, further solidifying his reputation.

Roma expressed their best wishes for Ranieri as he embarks on this new chapter, confident that his knowledge and experience will greatly benefit the team.

“Forza Roma and welcome home, Mister,” the club stated.

Ranieri takes over from Ivan Juric, who was appointed in September following the departure of former club captain Daniele De Rossi.

Despite Juric’s efforts, the team recorded four wins in 12 matches across all competitions which left them in the 12th spot in Serie A, just four points above the relegation zone.

Hence, Claudio Ranieri’s return to Roma is expected to provide an opportunity for revitalization and growth within the squad.
