Enyimba’s technical adviser, Yemi Olanrewaju, has revealed that they had to train in Uyo ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup matchup against Al Masry of Egypt due to the surface they will play on in the northern country.
“We opted to train in Uyo to prepare for our continental match on a grass pitch in Egypt,” the Enyimba coach told Completesports. “The pitch in Aba is synthetic, which affects ball movement, so this shift allows us to adapt effectively.”
Olanrewaju expressed gratitude to Enyimba’s management for facilitating this training arrangement, highlighting the importance of preparing for the challenges ahead.
Enyimba is currently grouped with other strong contenders, including the renowned Zamalek from Egypt and Mozambique’s Black Bulls.
Meanwhile, Bendel Insurance has marked a positive turnaround following the resignation of their long-serving coach, Monday Odigie. They celebrated a 3-1 victory over Kwara United at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, successfully ending a winless streak in the Nigeria Premier Football League.
Despite playing behind closed doors due to a league sanction, Bendel Insurance showcased a commendable performance under interim management, reflecting the resilience that initially propelled them to a remarkable 21-game unbeaten run earlier this year.
This victory serves as a valuable morale boost, a much-needed change considering their previous struggle with just three wins out of twelve matches this season.
