Leaders and concerned members of Girei local government council of Adamawa State have called on their elected representatives to address the current deteriorating state of educational infrastructure in the council.
In a letter of appeal directed to the elected representatives from the area on Sunday, the leaders expressed their displeasure with the dilapidated nature of some public schools in the council
Signed by the Youth leader of Sabongari Community in the council, Abubakar Jibirill, a Girei, the leaders appealed to the Senator representing Adamawa Central, the member representing Yola North constituency at the state House of Assembly to rescue public schools in the area.
They urged the elected representatives from the area to rehabilitate and improve the Junior Secondary and Primary School in Girei council, which according to them, serves as a critical foundation for the education of their children.
“The schools are currently facing significant challenges, with deteriorating infrastructure, poorly maintained classrooms, and lack of essential learning materials.” The letter of appeal read.
The stakeholders warned that the quality of education in the area will continue to decline if the deplorable condition of the schools is not urgently addressed, which in the long-run have negative impacts on the future of children spread across the council.
The concerned members are of the view that such an intervention will not only enhance the educational environment but also reinforce the community’s trust in the commitment of their leaders to the well-being of the people.
“Together, we can ensure that our children receive the quality education they deserve,” the community leaders emphasized,
They also highlighted the potential for a brighter future for the local government and the state at large if the aforementioned critical educational needs are urgently addressed.
