CORA holds monthly Book Trek on Thursday in Lagos

The August edition of the monthly literary series CORA Book Trek, a reading and discussion session by stakeholders in literature and other interested professionals that appreciate learning opportunities, has been scheduled to be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at the Freedom Park, Kongi’s Harvest Hall, on Campbell Street, near Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos.

The August edition of the monthly literary series CORA Book Trek, a reading and discussion session by stakeholders in literature and other interested professionals that appreciate learning opportunities, has been scheduled to be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at the Freedom Park, Kongi’s Harvest Hall, on Campbell Street, near Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos.

According to the organisers, the event, which would last three hours from 3:00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m., would feature a book titled “This Is Not a Discotheque – Vignettes from the Life of a Young Lawyer,” written by the former President, Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Toki Mabogunje.

The author is expected to inform and excite the audience with her experience in legal practice at the early stage of her career in what promises to be very enriching.

Mabogunje, who is also the Principal Consultant, Toki Mabogunje & Co and Vice Chairman, Africa, World Chamber Federation (WCF), was optimistic that she would entertain readers through the humorous rendition of the real-life stories captured in the book while sharing lessons of life gathered along her career journey.

The CORA Book Trek will have professionals from various sectors of the economy in attendance, serving as a platform for reading, interacting and reviews, and reflections on select literary works to provide useful insights and learning experiences capable of changing the narratives at personal, institutional, national and even international levels.

Also, past guests of the monthly event included the former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, Femi Adesina, who in February 2024 engaged the audience as he read his latest literary work “Working with Buhari.”

According to the organisers, the book series aims to enrich the public’s understanding and appreciation of literature by fostering intellectual engagement as a way of contributing to the educational and empowerment goals of the society.
