Director-general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig. Gen Y.D. Ahmed, has assured that the security and welfare of corps members remain the top priorities of the present administration.

Ahmed, who paid a familiarisation visit to the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Boro Town, Kolokuma/Opokuma local government area of Bayelsa state, commended the corps members for their high level of discipline in the camp and urged them to adhere strictly to the scheme’s rules and regulations.

He charged them with taking responsibility for their security by being vigilant at all times and reading the security tips booklet given to them.

He cautioned corps members to shun misuse of social media and avoid posting NYSC activities on social media.

Speaking on the importance of the NYSC SAED programme, the DG encouraged them to key into SAED, which aims to make them self-reliant and future employers of labour.

He urged the corps members to continue to participate in all camp activities and wear proper dress code at all times.

Impressed by the discipline and comportment of the corps members, the DG gave three fat cows to the corps to celebrate their graduation from school, while admonishing them to desist from needless adventures and night journeys due to dangers on the road.

Earlier, the state coordinator, Mrs Okpalifo Obiageli Charity, in her welcome remarks, briefed the director general on the camp situation and said that the corps members have adjusted to the camp’s regimented lifestyle, shown a high level of discipline, and actively participated in all camp activities.

She also informed that camp officials have sustained the use of emotional intelligence in interpersonal relationships on duty.
