Nigeria men’s senior cricket team, the Yellow Greens, will open their 2026 ICC T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Qualifier C campaign against St. Helena at the Nigeria Cricket Federation Oval 2 of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Saturday (today), PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The country was selected as one of the three countries to host the qualifiers earlier this year, with the first two already completed in Tanzania and Kenya.

The Yellow Greens opening game comes up at 1:50 pm, simultaneously with the game between Sierra Leone and Ivory Coast while Eswatini and Botswana would have played the opening game of the series at the NCF Oval 1 by 9:00 am.

The top two teams from each of the sub-regional qualifiers will go into the final phase, which will see two countries qualify to join South Africa as Africa’s representatives at the World Cup in 2026.

“As the host nation and the highest-ranked team in the tournament at 36th on the ICC T20 rankings, Nigeria is ready to lead the charge at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Sub-Regional Qualifier C,” the NCF said on Friday.

“With home support and an unyielding determination to dominate, the Yellow-Greens are set to put on a thrilling show as they aim to solidify their place on the road to the World Cup.”

Head coach and high-performance manager of the NCF, Steve Tikolo also said, “For us, it’s not only about qualifying for the next round but winning the tournament and becoming champions. From there, we prepare for the next round.”

After Saturday’s opener, a date with Eswatini will be on Monday while further tests await the Yellow Greens against Sierra Leone on Tuesday and Botswana in the last game on Wednesday.
