Katsina State Governor Umaru Radda has said that the state is witnessing rapid reduction in crime rates.

He attributed the decrease in attacks in the state during the rainy season to the joint efforts of security agencies in the state.

The governor who disclosed this while hosting the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, at his office on Friday, expressed happiness that over 90 per cent of the state’s arable land was cultivated this year.

Appreciating the army for the improved security in the state, Radda requested that the Nigeria Army and other security agencies strategise more to ensure that farmers can safely harvest and transport their produce from farms to their homes.

The governor acknowledged public complaints about delayed response-times to attacks but noted that the issue has been addressed with the release of contact numbers for emergency calls.

Earlier, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Lagbaja stated that his visit to Katsina was to assess ongoing operations, inspect infrastructure in the barracks and condole with the Yar’Adua family over the passing of Hajiya Dada.

He assured the governor of the army’s continued support and partnership with the public in the fight against banditry, emphasizing the need for better collaboration with all stakeholders.
