CUPP Faults ‘Persecution’ Of #EndBadGovernance Protesters By FG

The   Coalition of United Opposition Political Parties (CUPP) has faulted the unnecessary ‘persecution’ of #EndBadGovernance protesters by the federal government, describing the approach as fascist arrogance by the federal government.

Last Wednesday, the Federal High Court in Abuja granted stringent bail conditions to the 10 #EndBadGovernance protesters charged with treason over last month’s protest.

The ruling by Judge Emeka Nwite granted each of the 10 charged protesters bail in the sum of N10 million with one surety who must have property worth the bail sum in Abuja.

CUPP, in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary Comrade Mark Adebayo, said the decision of the federal government to prosecute the protesters is reprehensible and abominable to any sense of justice.

The coalition, therefore, called for the immediate release of the protesters and that the federal government should desist from persecuting the protesters on trump-up charges. “We call for the immediate release of all protesters and the cessation of hostilities against voices of dissent.

“The current attack against our democracy by the Tinubu administration is injurious to the principles of democracy and can cause a major disaster that may end the democratic processes. The biggest threat to our democracy is the government’s intolerance towards dissenting voices, including Press freedom.”
