The founder and Group Managing Director of Custodian Investment Plc, Wole Oshin, has revealed that the Custodian Mentorship Conference has empowered over 5,000 young entrepreneurs since its inception in 2018.

According to a statement made available to The PUNCH on Tuesday, he disclosed this at the sixth edition of the conference held in Lagos.

Oshin expressed the company’s pride in making a positive impact on the youth, noting that mentorship played a critical role in shaping future leaders.

“I didn’t have mentors guiding me, but I learned by observing those I admired,” Oshin said.

He explained that his experience inspired the creation of a platform where seasoned professionals share their knowledge and experiences with young entrepreneurs.

He added that volunteers from the Custodian Group continue to mentor participants even after the conference.

“We aim to support our mentees beyond this programme, which is why we partnered with Alder Consulting, knowing we cannot do it alone,” he stated.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Custodian Social Responsibility Foundation, Olubunmi Aderemi, described the conference as a flagship initiative of the foundation.

He highlighted the foundation’s recent interventions, which included rehabilitating two roads in Sabo, Yaba, Lagos, supporting flood victims in Bodija, Ibadan, and constructing an Accident and Emergency Centre in Epe, Lagos.

The conference featured speakers, like comedian Atunyota Akpobome, popularly known as Ali Baba; fashion entrepreneur, Adenike Ogunlesi, and music artiste, Jude Abaga, called MI.

Ali Baba noted several dynamics necessary for achieving success, including education, networking, understanding societal dynamics, and financial management.

He stressed the importance of being adaptable, maintaining good habits, and mentoring others.

Ogunlesi encouraged participants to take charge of their lives, stating, “Your life is your biggest investment.”

In his session, MI spoke on the significance of being deliberate in pursuing dreams, urging mentees to clearly define their goals by writing them down and to remain focused on their journey to success.
