Courageous Women in Action (CWIA), a U.S.-based nonprofit organisation, has extended its empowerment efforts to widows in Delta State, Nigeria.
Led by Dr Hetty Asiodu, CWIA organised an impactful outreach programme in Asaba, the Delta State capital, to provide essential resources to widows and help them build sustainable livelihoods.
During the event, widows gathered in large numbers to benefit from CWIA’s donations of bags of rice, bringing a sense of relief amid Nigeria’s economic challenges. Dr Asiodu emphasised the organisation’s mission to foster self-sustenance and thanked donors for supporting CWIA’s efforts, saying, “When we support women, we support the nation.” She acknowledged Mrs Carolyn Copeland and her family’s support for Asaba widows, providing them with tools to overcome their daily hardships.
Expressing gratitude, the widows prayed for CWIA and praised the organisation’s commitment to their empowerment. Equipped with new skills and essentials, the women left the event inspired and hopeful for a brighter future.
