DAILY POST’s Gift Oba named NUJ journalist of the year

The Nigeria Union of Journalists Ogun State Council, has awarded DAILY POST’S Gift Oba with the State’s Print/Online Journalist of The Year Award.

She was awarded for her reports on: How Stiff Abortion Guidelines Fuel Unsafe Abortion In Ogun State, The Reason for the rising cases of Suicide in Nigeria among others.

Speaking at the award and dinner night ceremony, which was part of the Ogun NUJ 2024 Press Week in Abeokuta, the Judges’ Board Chairman, Dele Akinsola, said the winners were chosen from among over 100 submissions from reporters who had produced outstanding coverage of the state.

Akinsola stated that the awards were given to recognize the outstanding contributions journalists have made to influencing public opinion, encouraging accountability, and advancing national development.

She said, “The quality of entries we received was impressive. It was a challenging task for the judges to select the winners, but in the end, we were able to identify the best of the best.

“The winners we have selected have demonstrated exceptional journalism skills, and their stories have had a significant impact on the community”.

Other reporters awarded at the event included Ogun NUJ Grassroots Reporter of the Year:
Print & Online- Sodiq Ojurongbe, Broadcast- Lekan Agbonde; Ogun NUJ Broadcast Journalist of the Year: Yemi Dalemo, Investigative Reporter of the Year: Broadcast- Kazeem Olowe, Judicial Reporter of the Year- Adeyemi Aderonke, among others.
