Dambe: High Hopes, Fierce Rivalries As Super Fight 03 Final Holds In Abuja

Dembe Warriors League ‘Super Fight 03’ final of the Nigeria’s traditional boxing holds at the Velodrome of Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Sunday, September 15.

The highly anticipated Nigeria’s boxing will feature 10 fighters, including two foreigners, in fierce battles that will keep  spectators alike thrill through out.

The 10 fighters are Aljanin Nasarawa, Yar Mage, Dogon Messi, Shabban, Garkiwan Yansanda, Ali Kanin Bello, Dogon Shegiyar Mata, Dan Tula Yellow and the two foreigners – Denis Chemysh and Mateusz.

Speaking at the press conference heralding the fight on Friday in Abuja,  Co-founder of the Dambe Warriors League, Mr. Chidi Anyina has expressed confidence that the Nigerian traditional boxing game will impact the world positively, saying unlike the Mixed martial arts (MMA) fight in Asian continent, the traditional Dembe Warriors League can equally showcase Nigerian culture to the rest of the world and boost the nation’s GDP.

“Dembe fight is not just a sports, but a mixture of culture and entertainment, and it can be used to showcase Nigerian culture to the world and boost our  economic.

“This is the third season of the Dembe Warriors League. The first season fight was held in Kano, second season was in Lagos and we are now here in Abuja for the third season of the League final. The league is growing faster and today, we have over 70 million viewers across the globe.

“Further, the Dembe Warriors League- Super Fight 03- aims to bring traditional Nigerian art and culture to millions within Nigeria’s borders and across the globe and it is an amazing opportunity to expand this sport and provide life-changing opportunities to these fighters and thousands of Nigerian youths who may wish to build career in Dembe fight,” Anyina said.

The which is split in five bouts, will Season 02 champion Yar Mage face off with Aljanin Nasarawa in the Lightweight championship. Each of the warrior put on strong showings throughout the regular season, with defending champion finishing with a 4-1 record and Nasarawa right on his heels with a 3-2 record.

In the Middleweight championship, Shabban will lock horns with inform Dogon Messi who was beaten in season 02 final. The two warriors will definitely put on a show that will delight the thousands of onlookers and thousands watching at home as are evenly matched. Both warriors finished regular with a record of 4-1.

In the Heavyweight category, Yansanda and Ali Kanin Bello will face-off with both Warriors talking tough ahead of the bout.

Kanin Bello, who was the Season 02 beaten finalist, believed it is an opportunity to bounce back, while Yansanda insists on retaining the title despite going into the fight as a heavy underdog to AKB, who has amassed millions of views on social media showcasing his formidable strength.
