Dangote Refinery To Engage PETROAN On Direct Fuel Supply

The Dangote Refinery management is preparing for discussions with the Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) to explore a direct fuel supply partnership.

Naija News reports that this development follows the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria’s (IPMAN) announcement of a direct purchase agreement with Dangote Refinery, eliminating intermediaries in the process.

Speaking on Tuesday, PETROAN’s Publicity Secretary, Joseph Obele, confirmed that Dangote Refinery had recently emailed PETROAN President, Dr. Billy Harry, proposing a meeting to solidify business arrangements in the coming days.

Dr. Harry has since established a seven-member delegation, headed by himself, to represent PETROAN at this meeting.

Obele said, “The Head of Commercial at Dangote Refinery has sent an email to the National President of PETROAN, Dr. Billy Harry, regarding an upcoming strategic business meeting.

“At this proposed meeting, PETROAN’s primary objective will be to ensure affordable, high-quality products for consumers while adhering to all regulatory standards and industry best practices.”

Obele added that the meeting could bring significant advantages for the general public, Dangote Refinery, and retail outlet owners alike.

In a separate statement on Tuesday, PETROAN’s National Headquarters praised Dangote Refinery for its recent agreement with IPMAN to supply Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) directly, bypassing intermediaries like the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC).

The statement also pointed to the potential for a drop in PMS prices, citing factors such as global market shifts, improved supply chains, and the reduction in landing costs of petrol in Nigeria.

These, along with discussions between Dangote Refinery and industry stakeholders, could contribute to a positive trend for fuel prices.

PETROAN further emphasized the importance of collaboration within the sensitive oil and gas sector, stating that open communication is crucial to sustaining operational stability and industry balance.

“Factors contributing to this include recent discussions between Dangote Refinery and key industry stakeholders, as well as a reduction in the landing costs of PMS in Nigeria, reflecting global market adjustments and improvements in the supply chain.

“We once again commend Dangote Refinery for recognising the importance of stakeholder engagement, and we are optimistic that the primary beneficiaries will be the general public,” PETROAN stated.
