Dangote Refinery vs NNPC: Petrol pump price in Abuja Monday

3 months ago 82

The prices of Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol) stood between N897 and N980 per litre in major filling stations in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, as of Monday morning.

DAILY POST correspondent who went around major filling station outlets, including those of Independent Petroleum Marketers and Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, showed that the pump price per liter stood between N897 and N980.

“We are yet to receive any information on PMS price adjustment. We still sell at N980 per liter,” Benjamin Idah, a filling station, told the DAILY POST.

This comes amid the NNPCL’s fresh announcement of September pricing across its retail outlets after lifting Dangote Refinery Petrol on Sunday at N898.78 per litre.

Putting logistics and other costs into consideration, the state-owned firm further said that the estimated lowest retail price of PMS stands at N950.22 at Lagos, while the highest is N1,019.22 per litre.

The implication is that in the coming days, the price will increase to between N950.22 and over N1,083 per liter when the old stock is exhausted.

This comes upon the distribution of PMS by Dangote Refinery on Sunday.

NNPCL had said that it had loaded over 70 trucks as of Sunday from Dangote Refinery at N898 per liter.

However, Dangote Group spokesperson, Anthony Chiejina, faulted NNPCL’s position on the price it bought Dangote Petrol.
