Technology-driven credit rating agency, datapro, has concluded plans to host the 2024 edition of its International Rating Webinar on Thursday.

In a statement, the firm disclosed that the event, themed: “Navigating Economic Uncertainties: The Role of Credit Rating Agencies”, would take place virtually between 2 pm and 4 pm and will be streamed live on LinkedIn and YouTube.

According to the firm, a major highlight of the event will be the goodwill message from the Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Emomotimi Agama, underscoring the importance of credit rating agencies in Nigeria’s financial ecosystem.

It stated that the webinar would feature a keynote address from the Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Q-Lana Christian Ruehmer, a digitalised knowledge-based open-banking institution operating across Africa and other developing regions.

“Ruehmer, an expert in credit risk management, will share his insights on the evolving trends in risk management, investment, and treasury, particularly in navigating economic uncertainties,” the firm said.

It added that the panel discussion would feature industry leaders, including the Group Managing Director of Metropol Ratings in Kenya; Sam Omukoko; the Group Managing Director of DLM Group, Sonnie Ayere; and the Managing Director of Chapel Hill Denham, Kemi Awodein.

In his comments, datapro’s Managing Director, Abimbola Adeseyoju, expressed optimism about the event’s role in fostering collaboration and cooperation among African credit rating agencies. He noted that the webinar would provide a unique opportunity to explore the value proposition of credit rating institutions during economically challenging times.
