Dele Momodu, a prominent Nigerian figure and uncle of Sophia Momodu, Davido’s ex-partner and mother of his first child, Imade, has extended his congratulations to Davido on his wedding to Chioma Rowland.
Taking to social media, Momodu, who is also a publisher and journalist, wrote:
“On behalf of the Momodu family of Ihievbe, Edo State, I wish to send our heartiest congratulations to @davido and his lovely wife @thechefchi on this special day of their wedding. May GOD almighty bless the union and provide you with good health, more prosperity and unlimited happiness.”
This message comes as a welcome gesture, considering the past complexities between Davido and Sophia Momodu. Their co-parenting relationship has been under public scrutiny at times, with occasional disagreements documented on social media.
However, Momodu’s public congratulations suggest a spirit of moving forward and offering well wishes for Davido’s new chapter with Chioma.
Davido and Chioma’s official wedding ceremony is taking place on June 25th, 2024, in Lagos, Nigeria.
Davido and Sophia Momodu’s legal battle
Essentially, this olive branch extended by Dele Momodu comes at a time when Davido and Sophia Momodu are in a legal battle.
Davido has recently taken legal action against Sophia Momodu, the mother of his first child Imade. The singer is seeking joint custody of their daughter.
In the lawsuit, Davido claims he has consistently fulfilled his financial responsibilities for Imade, but Sophia has been making unreasonable demands. He alleges Sophia rejected his offer of a luxury apartment worth N200 million, and instead demanded he continue paying N5 million annually for rent.

In response, Sophia has made several claims. She accuses Davido of abandoning Imade for the past two years, though she says she has never denied him access. Sophia also alleges Davido provided financial support during their relationship, but since their 2022 breakup, he has threatened to make her life miserable if she does not make herself sexually available to him.
