The Delta State House of Assembly has suspended another member, Oboro Preyor, for alleged gross misconduct, marking the third suspension within three months.

Preyor’s suspension, which will last for 14 legislative days, followed a motion moved by Majority Leader Emeka Nwaobi, representing Aniocha North, and seconded by Mathew Omonade of Ughelli North 1 constituency.

After the motion’s adoption, Speaker Emomotimi Guwor directed the Sergeant-At-Arms to escort Preyor out of the chamber, asserting that discipline is paramount in maintaining the integrity of the Assembly.

“We cannot condone misconduct within the Assembly. An adhoc committee will be set up to investigate the issues that led to this suspension,” Guwor stated.

Preyor’s suspension adds to a growing list of disciplinary actions taken by the Assembly, reflecting what some members describe as a “firm stance on ethical standards.”

In other developments, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is set to present the 2025 Appropriation Bill to the House on Thursday.

In a letter read by the Speaker, Governor Oborevwori formally requested to address the Assembly, stating, “In line with Section 121, sub-section 1, of the 1999 Constitution, I will present the proposed Recurrent and Capital estimates for the 2025 fiscal year.”

The presentation is scheduled for Thursday, November 14, at 10 am, when the governor is expected to unveil the budgetary plans that will drive the state’s projects and policies in the coming year.
