Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu Mourns Late Army Chief, Lagbaja

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has commiserated with Nigeria Army over the death of its former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General, Taoreed Lagbaja.

Benjamin Kalu said General Lagbaja’s commitment, strategic leadership and vision played a vital role in forming the Armed Forces into a formidable institution.

In a statement on Wednesday, the All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker described Lagbaja’s death as a heavy blow to the country.

“I am indeed saddened by the news of the passing of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, earlier today.

“The late Army Chief was an exceptional leader and patriot who dedicated his life to Nigeria’s security and development. His commitment, strategic vision, and courageous leadership have played a pivotal role in shaping the Nigerian Armed Forces into the formidable institution it is today. His death is indeed a heavy blow to our country,” he said.

Kalu prayed to God to comfort the Late Army Chief’s immediate family.

I extend my heartfelt condolences to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as well as to the Nigerian Army and the entire armed forces for this great loss. May the Almighty grant his immediate family and loved ones comfort during this difficult time,” he added.
