Despite Police Claim That Every Nigerian Can Be Traced In 2 Hours, Student Doctors Remain In Captivity More Than 48 Hours

While the Nigeria Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuwiya Adejobi, said the location of every Nigerian can be given in 2 hours, student medical doctors remain in captivity for more than 48 hours.

On 26 April 2023, Olumuwiya Adejobi, in a warning against abuse, defamation and attack by online users, wrote on his X handle that many erroneously think they are untraceable.

Many here think they are untraceable. Very funny. I can give the details of every handle here, within 2 hours. But, we need to relate well with people to get close to them. and we should know that there are laws guiding our posts, publications, comments, etc, online,” Adejobi wrote.

Unfortunately, 19 student doctors from University of Maiduguri, Borno State and the University of Jos, Plateau State, alongside a medical doctor, were abducted by bandits in Benue State, on their to Enugu State for a convention.

According to one of the victims, Kingsley Aondona, who posted their abduction on his X handle, on Friday, the kidnap happened on Thursday. They have not eaten for two days, and the kidnappers have threatened to start killing some of them on Saturday (today).

Aondona is reported to be a student doctor at the University of Jos. He stated that the bandits demanded ₦50 million for their freedom.

He wrote, “We were kidnapped on our way to Enugu for a convention. There are requesting for ₦50 million for 20 of us medical students please help us and we haven’t eaten for two days

As of the time of filing this report, no official statement has come from the police or the federal government on the abducted student doctors.
