Amid mounting transfer interest, Glasgow Rangers striker, Cyriel Dessers, says he is happy staying at the Ibrox Stadium and rules out an exit from the club, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Dessers has been linked with a move away from Scotland with PAOK as well as Cagliari keenly interested in the striker but the Super Eagles player in an interview Ziggo Sport Voetbal said he wanted to stay.
“I am very happy here, so I would like to stay,” the 29-year-old said.
“There is some interest, but my intention is to stay and then we will see what happens.”
Despite heavy criticism from the club fans over his lack of finishing, Dessers in his first campaign at Ibrox netted 22 goals and provided eight assists.
It took the striker time to win over the highly vociferous Rangers fans following his summer move from Cremonese in Italy after managing to score just three goals in his first 20 appearances, but his clinical double against Hearts in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup had fans singing praises of the Nigerian.
His late resurgence was not enough as the Gers finished second in the Scottish Premier League behind arch-rivals, Celtic, while also losing the Scottish Cup final to the same opponents courtesy of a late Adam Idah’s strike.
Dessers, who joined Rangers on a four year-deal, last summer, will hope to hit the ground running when the season begins on August 3 with the first fixture away against Hearts.
But first, he must convince manager Philipp Clemente during this pre-season starting with their game against Manchester United on Saturday.
