Super Eagles of Nigeria striker, Victor Osimhen seems to be getting closer to moving to French Ligue 1 giants, Paris Saint Germain this summer.

Victor Osimhen hit the peak of his football career during the 2022-2023 season in which he scored 26 league goals and provided five assists as he helped Napoli win their first Scudetto in 33 years.

Since then, a series of top European clubs and even clubs from the Saudi Pro League have been after his signature. The pressure got so much for Napoli that they had to rework his contract and included a €130 million release clause in it which the 25-year-old striker signed in December 2023.

The release clause helped to scare a series of top clubs away including heavy money spenders like Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal who were said to be strongly interested in him.

Since this week, the narrative seems to have changed and it has become a story of Victor Osimhen who had said playing in the Premier League was his dream, now saying he is ready to play for PSG. And of course, the French side who are desperately looking for a striker that will fill the void left behind by the departure of Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid, are said to be doing everything possible to secure the Nigerian signature.

Recently, the story has been that Victor Osimhen has agreed on personal terms with PSG and a report from Italian publication Tuttosport has revealed details of the deal.

The report claimed that the offer PSG made to Osimhen which the Nigerian has reportedly agreed to will increase his salary by €4 million. This means that the Nigeria international who was on a €10 million per year salary at Napoli will earn €14 million per year at PSG.

Also, the contract is expected to tie Osimhen down at PSG for five years which means that the deal will expire when the Nigerian star turns 30 years old in 2029.

As it stands, what is left for the deal to be official is for PSG to agree on a transfer fee with Napoli. The fact that the Italian side are open to negotiating the release clause in Osimhen’s contract is expected to make the process more seamless than expected.
