Dev-Afrique Development Advisors, a social impact organisation, has collaborated with Kaduna State to support the domestication and implementation of the National Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) Policy.

This initiative, funded by the Gates Foundation’s WEE Catalyst Fund and endorsed by the federal government of Nigeria, focuses on tailoring the policy to Kaduna’s specific context and ensuring its effective implementation.

The collaboration was solidified during a technical working group meeting at which Godson Ogheneochuko, a Dev-Afrique principal advisor, reaffirmed the firm’s commitment to supporting the Kaduna State government and all stakeholders involved in activities related to the economic empowerment of women in Kaduna State.

“By working together,” said Ogheneochuko, “we aim to achieve a successful WEE Policy implementation, ultimately empowering Kaduna’s women. We are keen to deliver our expertise and help to remove barriers that impact women’s access to economic opportunities,” he said.

He acknowledged the Kaduna State ministry of Human Services and Social Development for its dedication to the progress of women in Kaduna State and taking the lead towards localisation of the national policy.

He also clarified that, on the WEE project, Dev-Afrique is acting as local implementation partner to Albright Stonebridge Group, a global commercial diplomacy and policy advisory firm.

The permanent secretary, Dorcas Tarko, representing the commissioner, Hajiya Rabi Salisu Ibrahim, emphasised the importance of diligent execution by the working group. She expressed appreciation for Dev-Afrique’s expertise, noting that it will enhance project outcomes.

Dev-Afrique founder, Ridwan Sorunke, commended the Gates Foundation for its commitment to critical projects in Africa. “The Gates Foundation understands the African context,” said Sorunke, “identifies critical interventions, and funds local firms equipped to make tangible impact.” The WEE Catalyst Fund is also supporting similar policy efforts in Lagos and Kano States.
