Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has hit back at veteran entertainer and activist Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, following the latter’s recent jabs at him on social media.

Charly Boy had taken aim at Melaye over his flamboyant display of wealth online, including a recent video in which the former lawmaker described himself as a “limited edition” and claimed there was no one else like him. Responding to the video, Charly Boy suggested that Melaye might be struggling with an undiagnosed mental health issue, stating, “Not all mental illnesses are noticeable.”

In a video posted to Facebook on Thursday, Melaye dismissed the criticism, accusing Charly Boy of seeking relevance through his name. “He wanted to use my name to gain popularity because his destiny has been thrown inside freezer,” Melaye said.

The former senator also mocked the activist’s living condition, alleging that Charly Boy has a leaking roof he cannot afford to fix. “He places a whole big bike in front of his house like a statue and he doesn’t see that as a show-off,” Melaye added.
