Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has approved the payment of N300,000 each to students from the state in all the law school campuses in Nigeria.

Diri disclosed this on Friday at a meeting with representatives of the Bayelsa State Law Graduates Forum in Yenagoa, the state capital.

The governor was represented at the meeting by the state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Biriyai Dambo SAN.

Dambo said the approval reflected the governor’s commitment to the education of Bayelsans and that it would cushion the effect of the economic hardship in the country on the students.

He also stated that the grant would aid their academic pursuit and improve their welfare.

Dambo urged the students to focus on their academic work to make the state and their families proud, saying they had a bright future ahead if they stayed focused.

He said, “The approval is a reflection of the Governor, Senator Douye Diri’s commitment to the education of Bayelsans. This grant is to help cushion the effect of the economic hardship in the country.

“This is to help in your academic pursuit and also improve your welfare. I urge to focus on your academic work in order to make the state and your families proud.”

Speaking on behalf of the students, Imomotimi Annabel Godspower expressed their profound gratitude to Governor Diri for approving the grant, saying the gesture was very encouraging.

Godspower equally appreciated the governor’s commitment to the educational pursuit of Bayelsans and also thanked Dambo for facilitating the process.
