Discovering Morocco: A Luxurious Journey through Casablanca, Tangier, Chefchaouen, and Marrakech

Morocco, with its vibrant culture, enchanting landscapes, and rich history, was the backdrop for a recent six-day press trip.

From the bustling city of Casablanca to the serene blue alleys of Chefchaouen, each day offered a unique blend of experiences, luxurious accommodations, and unforgettable culinary delights. Here are the highlights from our incredible Moroccan adventure.

Day 1: A warm welcome in Casablanca

Casablanca greeted us with its warm charm as soon as we touched down at Mohammed V International Airport. Our first stop was the Sofitel Hotel, where we indulged in a sumptuous lunch featuring traditional Moroccan dishes.

After a delightful meal, we enjoyed swimming sessions, spa treatments, and a revitalising body scrub that left us refreshed for the evening ahead. Then, a delightful dinner cocktail set the perfect tone for the days to come.

Day 2: Exploring Tangier

A scenic journey took us to Tangier, a captivating city where old-world charm meets modernity.

One of the highlights was visiting The Lighthouse, which offers panoramic views of the meeting point of the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Dinner at Le Simple Tanger later that day was a gastronomic delight and the perfect way to end the day.

Day 3: The blue city of Chefchaouen

We ventured to the enchanting blue city of Chefchaouen. Known for its striking blue-washed buildings, the city is a photographer’s paradise.

After enjoying a delicious lunch at Triana in Medina, we embarked on a guided tour, marvelling at the city’s mountainous landscapes. As evening fell, we checked into Dar Ba Sidi and were fortunate to witness a traditional Moroccan wedding, complete with vibrant music and dance.

Day 4: The journey to Marrakech

Lunch in Marrakech was a delightful prelude to our stay at the luxurious Oberoi Hotel. Each suite, with its expansive living room, bedroom, and private blue water pool, was a sanctuary of opulence. Dinner at the hotel was an elegant affair, setting the stage for our exploration of this historic city.

Day 5: Immersed in Marrakech’s culture

Our visit to the Confluence Museum offered deep insights into Morocco’s diverse cultural heritage. A stroll through the lively Jemaa el-Fnaa Square was an experience in itself, with its bustling markets and street performers. Lunch at Terrasse des Epices provided a welcome rest after the stroll.

Later in the day, at Dar Soukkar, the nightlife in Morocco came alive. A live band, performers, and entertainers created a convivial atmosphere, complemented by exquisite food.

Day 6: Desert adventures and final farewell

The thrill of navigating the sandy dunes was unmatched. Returning to The Oberoi for lunch, we relished our last meal in this opulent haven.

The journey back to Casablanca included a visit to Morocco Mall, a shopping heaven. A quick dinner at the Cascade Restaurant gave us our final taste of Moroccan cuisine before heading to Mohammed V Airport for our flight back to Lagos.

This trip was more than just a journey; it was an exploration of Morocco’s heart and soul. Every moment captured Morocco’s allure, leaving us with memories that will linger long after our return.
