‘Do Not Disrupt Court Proceedings’ – Mohbad’s Family Reacts To Yomi Fabiyi’s Call For Protest

The family of late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad, has kicked against the recent call by Nollywood actor, Yomi Fabiyi, for a protest at the next court hearing.

Recall that Mohbad died under mysterious circumstances on September 12, 2023, and the death has continued to generate controversy to date.

Naija News reported that Fabiyi, in preparation for Mohbad’s one-year anniversary, urged the public to protest peacefully at the upcoming coroner’s inquest.

He stated that if no progress is made after their visit to the coroner’s inquest, then they will focus on the first anniversary of Mohbad’s death as a future opportunity to continue the call for justice.

Reacting, the family, in a statement through its legal team, Monisola Odumosu, said anyone is allowed to do what they want as the constitution gives individual rights to express their grievances.

The family, however, warned that staging protests within the court environment poses a threat to smooth proceedings, adding that all activities must be conducted civilly to avoid contempt of court.

The statement reads, “Anyone is free to do whatever they wants so far he or she does it within the confines of the law. The Constitution gives everyone the right to express his or her grievances.

“However coming within the court precinct is another issue entirely. They must not make noise. The business of justice in the court must not be disturbed in any manner. Lest they be charged for contempt of Court.

“Our advice is that they should not disrupt the proceedings in the court in any form whilst they exercise their rights.”
