The former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has challenged the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, to a debate on good governance.
Dogara gave the challenge while responding to a press release by the governor’s media aide, Muktar Gidado, titled: “Re: Dogara’s diatribe and opportunistic hypocrisy.”
He asked the governor to pick a platform and moderator of his choice for the debate.
“Also, having effectively conveyed my message, I won’t bother to respond to your charade anymore, but in case you are still interested in saying more about me, I challenge you to a debate on good governance on any platform of your choice, and you are at liberty to pick the moderator.
“If you have anything to say about me, be man enough to say it to my face,” he said.
The former speaker insisted that the governor had subjected Bauchi people to hardship by mismanaging the scarce resources of the state to construct private mansions, flyovers, and government houses
He added, “Bauchi bears 64.67 per cent burden of out-of-school children, which is the highest in the country and they call that transformation or development? Then, it’s good for them.
“But it is as unfortunate as it is tragic because the state will continue to pay the price for decades.”
