The Department of State Services (DSS) has denied carrying out a night raid on the premises of the headquarters of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Abuja on Wednesday.

LEADERSHIP reports that the DSS had raided the NLC headquarters, popularly known as the Labour House, attributing the claim to the spokesperson of the NLC.

According to the union, the security operatives stormed the Labour House around 8:30pm on Wednesday.

NLC’s head of media and public relations, Benson Upah, said, “They broke in and ransacked the bookshop on the 2nd floor carting away hundreds of books and other publications.

“The invading troops claimed that they were looking for seditious materials used for the #EndBadGoveranance Protests.”

But, DSS spokesperson, Dr Peter Afunanya, while reacting to an enquiry by LEADERSHIP, said its personnel did not carry out any raid on the NLC office building.

According to him, “kindly note that the Service (DSS) did not carry out any operation at the NLC office in Abuja.”
