Edo Election: ‘You Have No Respect For Our People’ – Obaseki Knocks Predecessor

4 days ago 3

Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has accused his predecessor of having no respect for citizens while in power.

Naija News recalls that Obaseki took over the government from Adams Oshiomhole, who served from 2008 to 2016.

Obaseki, while addressing a rally for the PDP in the Ekemwan region of the state on Saturday, said the person he took over from had no respect for women and people of the state.

According to him, his predecessor encouraged prostitution and women trafficking.

Obaseki also issued a dire warning stating that the upcoming governorship race in the state is a matter of life and death.

He cautioned that any misconduct during the election by the rival party could result in fatal consequences.

“The person I took over from had no respect for our people, had no respect for women, encouraged prostitution and women trafficking.

“When I took over office our pensioners wore black on Labour Day buy today they wear white.

“When I took office, our youths had no jobs, but today don’t they have jobs? After eight years is Edo not one of the safest in Nigeria?

“This election is a do or die, if they do, we will die. Next week Saturday by this time, vote for PDP to become the next governor,” the Edo State Governor said.

On the weekend of September 21, citizens of Edo State will head to the polls to cast their ballots for the state’s next governor.

Asue Ighodalo from the PDP, Monday Okpebholo, from the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Olumide Akpata from the Labour Party (LP) are currently leading in the race for the governorship position.
