The Igbo community in Igbanke of Orhionmwon local government area of Edo State has pledged to support the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State’s governorship race, Senator Monday Okpebholo.

LEADERSHIP reports that the Edo State governorship election is slated for Saturday, September 21, 2024.

The community, which sought the development of their area, said it would solidly support the aspiration of Okpebholo.

Dr. Emeka Maduka, one of the leaders of the Igbanke people and the Igbo settlers in the state, decried the abandonment of their community.

He noted the need for an inclusive and good governance in the state.

Speaking during a campaign rally in the area, the community expressed their full support for Okpebholo, citing their dissatisfaction with the current administration and its unfilled promises.

The community lamented that the promises made to them by past leaders were never fulfilled, leaving the community in a state of neglect and underdevelopment.

At the rally, the APC governorship candidate Okpebholo pledged to address their concerns and deliver on the infrastructure projects that have been long overdue in Igbanke.

Okpebholo assured the gathering that, if elected governor, he would prioritise the construction of roads and provide other essential services in the area, which have been ignored for far too long.
