The committee set up by Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, to recover government vehicles from officials of the immediate-past Godwin Obaseki administration said on Thursday that 30 vehicles have been recovered.

A statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, quoted the committee’s chairman, Kelly Okungbowa, as commending the whistleblowers who helped the committee with information leading to the recovery.

According to Okungbowa, four vehicles were recovered from the residence of a former high-ranking official of the immediate past government while another one was recovered from someone else.

He said before the end of the two weeks given to the committee more vehicles would have been recovered.

Okungbowa said, “Whistleblowers have helped the committee recover more vehicles and we appeal for more information to help us complete our mandate in the two weeks given to conclude our operations.

“We have recovered two Land Cruiser jeeps and two Toyota Hilux from a former high-ranking official of the immediate past government. In the vehicles, we recovered campaign posters and umbrellas. We recovered another Hilux making the vehicles five. In all, we have recovered 30 vehicles since our operation began.

“We are determined to recover more but want the cooperation of all Edo people. We are seeking information to help us recover more vehicles as we will reward whoever brings such information.”

He said the committee was ready to travel across the country to recover government vehicles wherever they were kept.

The committee had last Friday recovered one Hilux van and two Toyota Hiace buses.
