The All Progressive Congress on Wednesday received hundreds of members of the Peoples Democratic Party, Labour Party, and Africa Democratic Congress into its fold at Igueben, headquarters of the Igueben Local Government area of Edo State ahead of the state governorship election.
Receiving the decampees, the Director General, APC Campaign Council, Matthew Urhoghide, assured them of fair treatment, noting that all members are equal in the APC.
He expressed belief in Senator Monday Okpebholo, noting that he is a good candidate and he would listen to the yearning of the people.
He said, “I welcome you all to the APC. I am excited that you are joining our party, which is also yours. In APC, we are all equal.
“Now that you have joined the right party, I can assure you that our candidate, Okpebholo will listen to the yearning of the people. All you need is to cast your vote for the APC on September 21.”
On his part, the Coordinator of the APC campaign council in Edo Central Senatorial District, Odianosen Okojie, appealed to the decampees to come out em mase on September 21 to cast t their vote for the APC.
Earlier, the APC governorship candidate, Monday Okpebholo, while addressing the party supporters at his home, Ujabhole in Uwesan, Esan Central Local Government Area, said, “My people have asked me not to bother to campaign here because I have their support and votes already.”
A former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, speaking at Irrua, headquarters of Esan Central LG, alleged that the PDP has no candidate and that the people should not waste their vote on election day
He said, “PDP as a party has no candidate as we talk. The Federal High Court, Abuja has said so. The process that brought Asue Ighodalo in the primaries was also faulted by the court, so don’t go and waste your vote for PDP.”
Also speaking, the Deputy Governorship candidate, Dennis Idahosa, urged the party supporters to ensure that on September 21, the vote from Esan Central Local government is 100 per cent for the APC.
