Edo Poll: SUBEB unveils initiative to mobilise voters

The Executive Chairman of Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Ozavize Salami, on Monday launched the AIO2 initiative to mobilise voters for the September 21 governorship election in the state.

The SUBEB Chairman, who was in Akoko-Edo to intimate citizens and party faithfuls on numerous laudable programmes of the Obaseki-led administration in Edo State, used the event to set in motion the launching of “Edo is better with AiO2”, a political movement to boost the chances of the People Democratic Party candidate, Asue Ighodalo and his running mate, Osarodion Ogie at the polls.

Salami, a veteran grassroots mobiliser, also used the opportunity to give out palliatives and put smiles on the faces of indigenes across Wards 1 and 2 of the local government area, noting that other wards would also benefit in the near future.

She said, “The Edo is better with AIO2 was launched to ensure total victory of Asue Ighodalo, Osarodion Ogie and the People’s Democratic Party in the September 21 governorship election.

“I enjoy the support of by the Deputy Governor, Marvellous Omobayo and the Executive Chairman of Akoko-Edo Local Government Council, Tajudeen Alade..I am grateful to them.

“Edo State has set the pace as far as governance and basic education is concerned in Nigeria with many states already emulating the standard being set by Edo State,” she added.

While enumerating the gains recorded by Edo State SUBEB under her leadership, Salami said that primary school teachers in Edo State now use modern methods of teaching through provisions of innovative learning materials for pupils.

She commended the governor for prompt payment of workers’ salaries and for being the first Governor in Nigeria to pay civil servants the N40,000 and current N70,000 as minimum wage.
