Edo Queens have earned ₦500 Million for advancing to the semi-finals of the CAF Women’s Champions League.

Edo Queens who are the champions of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), defeated South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns with a score of 2-1 on Saturday.

Edo Queens finished first in Group B with seven points from three matches with Egyptian side FC Masar taking the runner-up position in the group.

Under the leadership of Coach Moses Aduku, Edo Queens are set to face TP Mazembe from the Democratic Republic of Congo in the semi-finals. In the other semi-final, hosts AS FAR will compete against FC Masar.

Meanwhile, in a statement published on November 17, 2024, the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), encouraged Edo Queens to seize the opportunity to win the CAF Women’s Champions League title.

He expressed immense pride in the team’s performance against the Mamelodi Sundowns, highlighting their resilience and ambition in overcoming the reigning champions.

Gusau praised the team’s fighting spirit and their determination to reach the semi-finals of the competition, believing that the recent victory would serve as strong motivation to go further in the tournament. He also extended congratulations to the Edo State Government and all those who have supported the team in their journey.

Edo Queens, who claimed the Nigerian title for the first time last season, have demonstrated their excellence by winning the WAFU B Women’s Champions League qualifying tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.

With their sights set on the CAF Women’s Champions League, they are prepared to take on TP Mazembe in the first semi-final on Tuesday at 4:00 PM Morocco time, followed by the clash between AS FAR and Masar three hours later.
