Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has ordered the arrest of two officers of the Commission allegedly involved in the manhandling of a female staff of Regional Hotel, Ojo, Lagos.

The officers were sighted in a viral video assaulting the hotel employee in a midnight sting operation, which yielded a sizable number of suspects that are still being profiled.

The viral video showed EFCC officials invading the Annex and Regional hotels, both owned by the same person, around 4.00 a.m. on June 27, while guests were asleep. The officers reportedly fired shots, injured customers, and arrested some persons.

Hotel staff alleged that the officials broke into rooms, assaulted guests and workers, and took away ATM cards, money, and phones. CCTV footage showed officials breaking into the manager’s room, where they were seen pushing and slapping her before taking personal items from a drawer.

In a statement by the Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, on Thursday, the EFCC boss also ordered a detailed investigation of the operation carried out at the hotel and assured that appropriate disciplinary measures would be taken against any of the officers found to be culpable.
