EFCC denies Olukoyede’s meeting with unnamed governor

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said it is outraged by the “unfounded claims” of Paul Ibe, spokesperson to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, alleging that the anti-graft agency’s Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, held a secret meeting with an unnamed politician.

In a statement on Friday, the commission said Ibe, who was a guest on the Politics Today programme on Channels Television on Thursday, May 22, 2025, shared his mind on sundry theories, conjectures and assumptions relating to opposition politics and defections.

The agency said his allegation that Olukoyede and the Solicitor General of the Federation met with an unnamed governor, 48 hours before he defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), is patently fabricated and in bad taste.

“Olukoyede has stressed it at several fora that he is apolitical and the EFCC wired against partisan tendencies.

“The public is enjoined to disregard the alleged meeting with the unnamed governor, as it only exists in the imagination of Ibe,” the EFCC said.
